A bit of politics.
Of course we no longer have our manufacturing industry but we have been there before, it's evolution. Why would any multi-national employ British unionised workers in these days of globalisation when you can go to India and get the job done for a fraction of the price? Business men are not charities and I'm not saying that I agree but it's life as we know it and all the lefty squealing won't alter it one jot.
...
I think that the only reason we have a large foreign owned motor industry is because of EU backing, the workers in that industry are well paid but if it started any of the British Leyland shenanigans they would up sticks at the drop of a hat and the unions know it.
...
Would anyone like a little bet now that if our boneheaded tanker drivers go on strike we will find our petrol being delivered through the Chunnel?
...
We really have to accept that we no longer make things like we used to and what money we have coming in, comes from the financial sector. So the bottom line there is that any government of whatever shade would have a hard job to balance the books. And I say again, unlike most of Europe we still, under the hated Tories, have a triple A rating.
...
As for Balls and Milliband, I wouldn't trust them with a corner shop and I would not be much more trusting in the current crop of liberal conservative leaders. Neither would most of the groundswell of Tory voters if the polls are to be believed. If the Tories get stuffed in the next election it will be because they pandered to the useless Libdems too much and were not Conservative enough. The country is on its arse and the dopey Libdems want to bugger about with the House of Lords, they really are a joke. End of rant...
